In keeping with our Polar Regions topic, we investigated Icebergs. We created our own icebergs by filling balloons with water and freezing them overnight. We then removed the balloons from the frozen balls of ice, leaving one covered with it’s orange balloon. We placed them in bowls of water and observed them during the day. One of the bowls had salt in it, replicating the ocean. We predicted which ones we thought would melt fastest. The following is the order in which they melted.
1. The iceberg near the radiator
2. The iceberg under the white board
3. The iceberg at the back of the classroom
4. The iceberg with the balloon around it
5. The iceberg in the salt water.
