Milkshakes:
We are learning about procedural writing/writing instructions. Procedural texts list a sequence of actions or steps needed to make or do something.
To begin with we put the procedure of how to make a marvellous milkshake in order and answered questions on it.
Our next lesson involved us working in pairs to create our own milkshake. We had the option of a strawberry, chocolate or oreo milkshake. The majority of us chose the oreo shake. We were also in charge of making a milkshake for our teachers. We didn’t disappoint. The milkshakes were really nice.
The Flower Experiment:
The flowing week we followed instructions on how to dye flowers. It effectively demonstrated how plants transport water up the stem, via the xylem, to reach the leaves and petals and hydrate them. After carrying out the experiment we wrote up on it. Within an hour or so some of the outer petals started to change colours, especially the blue and green dyes which seemed to be the strongest. By the next day or two the colours had reached most of the petals on each flower and looked very effective.
Making a Gas:
Our final lesson this month looked at how to inflate a balloon using baking soda and vinegar. By following these instructions we learned about gas and chemical reactions. The end result showed that when the bread soda and vinegar mixed it created a gas and caused the balloon inflated.
