Well done to our Senior girls who were successful in retaining the Larkin Shield last Monday in Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale. Despite Adare scoring the first point, our girls led right through the game and were victorious at the full time whistle. The final score read 4:13 to 0:2 after what can only be described as a complete team performance . Maura Shine accepted the shield on behalf of the team and left no one out in her speech afterwards. Our gallant girls returned to the school at 3pm to be greeted by pupils and parents alike. They were rightly thrilled with the win, as the photos show.
As well as being troopers on the football pitch, these wonderful group of girls were excellent ambassadors for their school, their parish and most importantly for their families. Their behaviour at all times was exemplary and they have always been a pleasure to take away. They are mannerly and courteous to all that they encounter and it is their gelling as a group that makes them a truly successful team.
Thank you to Mrs Healy and Mrs Adams for accompanying the team and to Marie Mac Kenna for helping with the transport. We would also like to thank the many parents who travelled to the venue and hope that we will see many more of you in the all weather pitch in the University of Limerick on Tuesday November 25th, when the team line out against the city winners, in the county semi-final. Should they be victorious in this game, they will be through to the final straight afterwards.
Go n-éirí go geal libh go léir.
