As part of Science Week the Junior and Senior Infants participated in some exciting experiments. Below are some details and photos of the ‘Dancing Raisins’ experiment our super scientists got up to 🙂

Dancing Raisins

What we used:
• 7 Up (or other clear fizzy drink)
• Clear plastic glasses
• Raisins

What we did:
• Filled the glass with 7 Up.
• Added raisins to the glass.
• Watched what happens!

What we found out;

Initially the raisins sank to the bottom of the glass because they are denser than water. The tiny bubbles in the fizzy drink attached to the raisins making them lighter and rise to the top of the glass. When the bubbles reached the top of the glass they burst and the raisins sank to the bottom again.  The tiny bubbles attached again and the raisins continued to dance!
