The start of the school year brought with it the need for new routines and new rules for the boys and girls in First and Second Class. Much of the first two weeks was taken up with readjusting to school life and learning the day to day running of their new room. We focused on the story of the “Monster Who Came To School”. This story was about a little monster who did not know how to behave in school. The children in the story said that they would help him to learn how he should do things in school without getting into trouble or hurting anyone’s feelings. This in turn helped us to draw up our own Class Rules and to focus on the importance of “Whole Body Listening” while in school. We realised that we can work very well together in our groups. Pupils earn stars for their group through good behaviour and cooperation.
